Seville’s main monuments:
The Giralda tower is the most emblematic monument of Seville.
The Cathedral of Seville Its impressive size makes it the third
largest in the Christian world, after Saint Peter's in Vatican city and Saint Paul's
in London.
The Royal Alcazar is a fortified palace whose construction was
ordered by Abd Al Ramn III in 913. It is worth highlighting that the garden of the
Alcazar features fountains and pavilions.
Archive of the Indies It is one of the city’s most important sites,
and holds numerous files and documents on Spain and her overseas possessions.
This group of monuments was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1987.
The Plaza de España (the Spanish square) in the Maria Luisa Park
is also very popular.
The Torre del Oro, situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir River,
is a building of Arabic origin (C. XIII) which once formed part of the city walls.
Seville is also famous for two festive events:
- Easter – Holy week known for it’s processions and floats.
- Feria de Abril - a world-famous festival.
